It has all come down to this. Two teams fought their way to this point, and now, fans will see who comes away with a championship. The Super Bowl is finally here, and it is a rematch between two talented teams. The Kansas City Chiefs are taking on the San Francisco 49ers. This was the matchup in Super Bowl LIV, and Kansas City came away with the win. Can they do it again? Or, will San Francisco foil their plans? Time will tell. Until then, let’s take a look at both teams.
The Kansas City Chiefs were first in the AFC West with a record of 11-6. They faced the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card Round and beat them 26-7. They followed up with a close win over the Buffalo Bills in the next round. They beat the Bills 27-24. Most recently, the Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 in the Conference Championship.
The Chiefs have played well, and it has gotten them to this point (yet again). Their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is leading the way, and has done well in the playoffs. In their three playoff games, Mahomes has a QBR of 90.2, 718 yards, and a completion percentage of 68 percent. He is doing what is needed to win, even when it is not the flashiest. Mahomes will be key in Kansas City’s win, and others like Travis Kelce, and Isiah Pacheco are worth keeping an eye on as well.
Mahomes is on the verge of his third championship which will add to his legacy. But the 49ers are out for revenge.
The San Francisco 49ers were first in the NFC West. They received a bye in the Wild Card Round and faced the Green Bay Packers in the next round. The Packers put up a fight, but the 49ers won 24-21. Then, they had another close call, as they beat the Detroit Lions 34-31. The 49ers have fought their way through the playoffs, and now they have a tough opponent in Kansas City.
The 49ers are led by Brock Purdy. In the playoffs, Purdy has a QBR of 76.0. He has 519 yards and a completion percentage of 61.4. Purdy’s performance in the Super Bowl will be a big factor for the 49ers. If he plays well, they have a solid chance of winning. And if others like Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle are on point, the 49ers could come away with the win. But it won’t be easy.
Super Bowl LVIII should be an exciting game, and both teams have what it takes to win. And it being a rematch makes it more exciting. May the best team win and for the fans out there, sit back, relax, and enjoy the game.
