City Of St. Louis: Candidate Filing Opens For March 7, 2023 Municipal Primary Election

Learn how to file to run for office and see which candidates have already filed to run for alderman in the new wards.

Candidate filing for the March 7, 2023 Municipal Primary Election opened on November 28, 2022 and continues until January 6, 2023.

This will be the first election that uses the new ward map, in which the number of wards in the City have been reduced from 28 to 14. All current aldermen must file for election in their new ward if they want to continue to hold office. See a list of candidates who have filed to run for each office on the election page.

To file to run for office, each candidate must fill out a certificate of nomination, obtain a statement of tax clearance from the Collector of Revenue’s Office, and pay a filing fee at the Office of the Treasurer. Learn more about how to file to run for office.
