Before leaving for New York to pursue his studies and career in Jazz, Lawrence graduated from Metro High School (St. Louis Public Schools) and studied Engineering at Washington University.
Fields has shared the stage with renowned artists Nicholas Payton, Jeff Watts, Branford Marsalis, and Terri Lyne Carrington. He has solidified his standing as a prominent figure among emerging jazz pianists by blending traditional principles with a modern approach.
