Read about the unanimous support from the Senate Judiciary and Jurisprudence Committee for the Intoxicating Cannabinoid Control Act in Missouri, which aims to regulate and classify products containing intoxicating cannabinoids.
Greetings MoCann Members and Business Owners, ICCA – Senate Bill 984 Up Today: As previously shared, the Senate Judiciary and Jurisprudence Committee voted 7-0 to support Senate Bill 984, which establishes the Intoxicating Cannabinoid Control Act. The legislation provides specific definitions critical to the regulation of “intoxicating cannabinoids” and requires these products to be classified and regulated as marijuana under Article XIV of the Missouri Constitution. Having passed out of this committee, our bill will go before the entire Senate TODAY. All 34 Senators will have a chance to weigh in on the ICCA and potentially work to perfect this bill, allowing it to move on to the next step in the legislative process. We have updated our Senate handout (CLICK THIS LINK TO DOWNLOAD) that includes talkers for the bill sponsors, a listing of all the organizations that support the bill, the letter from 21 Attorneys General, including Missouri AG Bailey to Congress to close the farm bill language loophole, letters from law enforcement, relevant news stories showing sickness or hospitalizations from unregulated retail store purchases of THC as well as definitions and congressional intent on hemp-derived intoxicants. We have been alerted that our ICCA bill is scheduled for floor time debate in the Senate today at 4 pm or shortly after.
