Robert Kirksey (recent)

Former Pattonville High School standout, Oklahoma State University wide receiver Robert Maurice “Rob” Kirksey passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2026. Rob was born on October 28, 1968, in Marianna, Arkansas, to Linda Kirksey and Robert L. Kirksey (DECEASED) and grew up in St. Louis, MO. He was 57.
Rob was an exceptional athlete, an incredible teammate, and most importantly, a wonderful friend and loving family man.
As a student athlete at Pattonville Senior High School, Rob was one of the first student-athletes in school history to letter in multiple sports. Excelling in both basketball and football. Rob finished his career as a receiver, catching 110 receptions for 1,419 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Rob also earned a full football scholarship to Oklahoma State University, where he enjoyed a successful career as a Cowboy. Kirksey was a four-year letter winner from 1988 -1991. During his time at OSU, Rob enjoyed the experience of playing with Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders. Rob led the team in receiving yards as a junior in 1990 and was elected team captain as a senior. Following his collegiate career, Rob continued to play professionally in Arena Football.

While football will forever hold a special place in Robʼs heart for introducing him to his lifelong brothers, it was that brotherhood that defined him. Rob could always be counted on to show and provide an example of what it meant to be a great teammate on and off the field. He embodied what it meant to have trust, respect, and a sense of discipline from those around him.
Rob had a personality that could light up any room. He had a wonderful laugh and could always make you feel better about any situation. Rob never met a stranger and had a special way of making anyone he met feel like they had known him their entire life. You did not have to know Rob Kirksey for very long to gain his trust and feel like family.
Rob eventually settled in Texas, where he went into coaching for a few years before beginning a career in the construction business. He took great pride in managing several apartment communities and watching them grow from the ground up. He approached each day with the same passion and grit he did on the football field.

Rob is survived by his loving wife, Amber Kirksey; daughter Jessica Motley, daughters Madeline Kirksey,
Devin McCord (Josh), and Baylor Steward; mother Linda Kirksey; brother Lamonte Kirksey; sister-in-law Nicole Kirksey; his puppy Bella, and his GRAND puppy, Chai T. He also leaves behind countless extended family members and friends that will never forget him.
Rob will be remembered for many great things on and off the football field, but most importantly for his kind heart and beautiful laugh that he gave to all who knew him. He will surely be missed.

There is no doubt Robert was a PHS & OSU Star. Rob was so much more. We’ve known Rob 50+ years. His care and love for his family, friends and life knew no bounds. ALS took his life but not his spirit. He will live in my heart forever.
