ST. LOUIS – Community members are invited to gather in Hyde Park on Saturday, September 12, 2026, for Khaleel’s 6th Annual Birthday Walk, an event dedicated to promoting healthy children and preventing childhood diabetes.
The walk will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hyde Park, near the intersection of Blair Avenue and Salisbury Street in North St. Louis.
More than a birthday celebration, the annual walk uses physical activity and community fellowship to draw attention to the importance of children’s health. Childhood diabetes remains an important concern for families, particularly in communities where access to nutritious food, preventive health services, safe recreational spaces, and reliable health information may be limited.
Regular exercise, healthy eating habits, preventive screenings, and family involvement can help children establish healthier lifestyles. Community events such as the birthday walk offer an opportunity to encourage those practices while bringing residents together around a shared commitment to children’s well-being.
The event’s continued presence – now entering its sixth year – also demonstrates the power of individuals and community organizations to sustain health-focused traditions. Walking is one of the most accessible forms of physical activity and can involve children, parents, grandparents, neighborhood leaders, and supporters of all ages.
Participants are encouraged to come prepared for the weather, wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes, and bring water. Families and community groups may also use the occasion to begin conversations with young people about nutrition, exercise, preventive care, and the long-term importance of healthy choices.
Khaleel’s 6th Annual Birthday Walk will be held Saturday, September 12, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Hyde Park, Blair and Salisbury, in St. Louis.
For additional information, contact Khaleel at 314-456-1790.
