Charity Vending Machine in Springfield, MO
A new vending machine is opening in Union Station.
Instead of swapping swipes for snacks and sodas, this vending machine, back in a busy Kansas City area, helps serve the greater good.
The Giving Machines are returning for the 2023 holiday season.
With a swipe of your credit card, you can donate the amount that would cover a specific good or service for one of several area charities.
A grand opening for the Giving Machines will be held on Tuesday evening, with Donna Kelce, the mother of Kansas City Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce, and Tammy Reid, the wife of the Kansas City Chief’s head coach, Andy Reid.
Local charities featured this year include:
- Foster Adopt Connect
- Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care
- restart
- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City
- Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund
- Science City
- Westside Community Action Network
Kansas City is one of only 53 cities worldwide to host Light the World Giving Machines. 100 percent of every item purchased goes directly to the non-profit of choice.
In 2022 the Giving Machines raised over $209k in Kansas City. Machines raised more than $311,000 in 2021.
Launched in Salt Lake City by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the initiative has raised more than $22 million since 2017.
The machines will remain at Union Station through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2024.
