In a world where opportunities can often feel out of reach, Annie Malone’s Economic Mobility Program (EMP) stands as a beacon of hope for young men aged 16 to 21. This transformative initiative is designed to provide economic empowerment, mental well-being, mentorship, career readiness, and stability to youth who are ready to take charge of their futures. With a comprehensive approach to personal and professional development, EMP is changing lives and building brighter tomorrows.

Day Programming: Building Skills and Confidence

Operating daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., the Day Programming component of EMP offers a structured environment where young men can access a wide range of resources. From educational and job training to mentorship and legal assistance, participants are equipped with the tools they need to succeed. The program also emphasizes family involvement, recognizing the importance of a strong support system in achieving long-term goals.

Key features of Day Programming include:

Hard and soft skills training to prepare participants for the workforce.

Mental health resources to support emotional well-being.

Transportation services to ensure accessibility for all participants.

This holistic approach ensures that every young man in the program has the opportunity to grow academically, professionally, and personally.

Overnight Programming: A 24/7 Commitment to Success

For younger participants aged 16 to 18, EMP offers Overnight Programming from Sunday night through Friday night. This immersive, 24-hour program provides a safe and supportive environment where youth can focus on their development without distractions. In addition to the resources available in Day Programming, Overnight Programming offers the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, setting participants on a path to long-term success.

Highlights of Overnight Programming include:

Comprehensive educational and job training.

Family involvement to foster a collaborative approach to growth.

Mental health resources to address emotional challenges.

A strong emphasis on community commitment and giving back.

By providing a stable and nurturing environment, Overnight Programming helps young men build the foundation they need to thrive.

Admission Criteria: Who Can Benefit?

EMP is open to boys aged 16 to 21 who are committed to improving their economic, academic, and mental well-being. A key requirement for admission is a family commitment to the participant’s treatment plan, ensuring a collaborative effort toward success.

However, the program is not equipped to serve youth with severe mental illness, drug use requiring detox, or violent behaviors. These criteria ensure that EMP can provide the most effective support to those who are ready to embrace change.

Why EMP Matters

Missouri faces significant challenges when it comes to incarceration and economic disparity. With the 10th highest incarceration rate in the nation and 1 in 7 families impacted by incarceration, programs like EMP are essential for breaking the cycle. By empowering young men with education, skills, and mentorship, EMP is creating a ripple effect of positive change in the community.

The program’s impact is undeniable:

100% of EMP graduates earn a high school diploma, a critical step toward economic mobility.

Participants gain the skills and confidence needed to pursue meaningful careers and contribute to their communities.

How You Can Help

Annie Malone’s Economic Mobility Program thrives on community support. Whether you’re interested in referring a young man to the program, volunteering your time, or providing financial support, there are many ways to get involved. Together, we can help these young men achieve their full potential and build a brighter future for all.
