Ricky Proehl, a St. Louis Rams legend and two-time Super Bowl champion, has been named the new head coach of the St. Louis Battlehawks. This announcement marks an exciting new chapter for the team and the city. Known for his dedication to St. Louis football, Proehl is ready to lead the Battlehawks to success.

“I have so many meaningful and special memories of St. Louis—not only because of the success on the field, but because of the people who made it feel like home,” Proehl shared. His passion for the city and its fans is evident, and his return as head coach has already sparked excitement among the Battlehawks’ loyal supporters.

Proehl’s NFL Legacy

Proehl’s NFL career is nothing short of legendary. As a member of the St. Louis Rams’ “Greatest Show on Turf,” he made the game-winning touchdown catch in the 1999 NFC Championship against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This iconic moment propelled the Rams to their dramatic 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV.

Over his 17-year playing career, Proehl played for several teams, including the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts. He earned his second Super Bowl ring with the Colts. By the end of his career, he had recorded 669 receptions, 8,878 yards, and 54 touchdowns.

A New Chapter for the Battlehawks

Proehl’s coaching journey began with the Carolina Panthers, where he served as wide receivers coach from 2011 to 2016. During his tenure, he helped guide the team to Super Bowl 50. Now, as the head coach of the Battlehawks, Proehl is eager to develop players and bring another championship to St. Louis.

UFL President Russ Brandon expressed his confidence in Proehl, stating, “Ricky Proehl is the perfect fit to step into the shoes of head coach of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He has not only achieved greatness on the gridiron as a player and a coach, but he is deeply rooted in The Gateway City.”

David Dykeman, UFL Senior Vice President of Football Operations, echoed this sentiment. He added, “Ricky had a legendary career in the city of St. Louis, and we know this franchise and fan base will be so excited to welcome him back.”

A City United Behind Proehl

Proehl’s return to St. Louis has already energized the city’s football community. Fans are eager to see how his leadership will shape the Battlehawks’ future. With his deep ties to the city and a proven track record of success, Proehl is poised to make a lasting impact.

As the Dome prepares to welcome back one of its favorite sons, the excitement is palpable. St. Louis football fans, get ready—Ricky Proehl is back, and the Battlehawks are ready to soar!
