There are stars, and then there are cultural architects—artists whose work doesn’t just entertain but leaves a permanent imprint on generations. Tisha Campbell is undeniably one of those rare figures. With a career spanning more than five decades, Campbell has done what few in Hollywood can claim: she has remained relevant, respected, and deeply loved across eras.
From her unforgettable portrayal of Gina Waters on the iconic sitcom Martin to her comedic brilliance alongside Damon Wayans on My Wife and Kids, Campbell has delivered performances that continue to resonate today. A recipient of both the NAACP Image Award and the BET Comedy Award, she has built a legacy rooted in talent, resilience, and authenticity.
Now, she’s bringing that legacy directly to the stage with her “DAYUM GINA Tour,” making a highly anticipated stop in St. Louis from May 1st through May 3rd at the Helium Comedy Club.
From Fear to Fearless: A New Chapter in Stand-Up
Despite her decades in the spotlight, Campbell revealed that stand-up comedy is a newer venture—one she stepped into during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m new to stand-up,” she shared. “I was too scared to do it, and during COVID I said I’m gonna do everything that I ever wanted to do.”
That leap of faith turned into a defining moment when she was invited by DJ D-Nice to host a comedy night at the Kennedy Center. What started as a 15-minute set in front of major celebrities quickly became the spark that ignited her stand-up career.
“I did my thing,” she said. “There was an agent in the crowd—and I’ve been on the road ever since.”
Why St. Louis?
For Campbell, this stop isn’t just another city—it’s a long-overdue return.
“Because I haven’t been in St. Louis since the ’90s,” she explained. “I have a lot of friends from here. I went around the country a little bit before I got here because I wanted to give y’all in St. Louis a great show.”
What to Expect: More Than Comedy
The “DAYUM GINA Tour” is far from a traditional stand-up routine. It’s an experience.
The show blends stand-up, storytelling, and raw, unfiltered truth—pulling from Campbell’s life in Hollywood, her journey through motherhood, and her personal reinvention. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and deeply human.
“It’s more me,” she expressed. “You’re really going to get to know me.”
In many ways, the show serves as both a celebration and a thank-you—a love letter to the fans who have supported her throughout her journey.
Reflecting on “Martin” and Cultural Impact
Looking back at Martin, Campbell admits that she and her co-stars never anticipated the show’s lasting cultural influence.
“No,” she said. “Me, Martin, and Tichina Arnold were having lunch one day, and Martin said, ‘Can you believe people call us icons?’ We were just trying to feed our families and make each other laugh.”
Decades later, the show remains a cornerstone of Black television and comedy—proof that authenticity and chemistry can create timeless magic.
Still Thriving, Still Evolving
Campbell isn’t slowing down. She continues to expand her already impressive resume with new roles and creative ventures. She currently appears on The Ms. Pat Show as Detective Sheila Jackson, also known as “Officer Bae,” and stars in the Lifetime film Be Happy.
Her memoir, The A Word, launched alongside a book tour beginning in April 2026, offering fans an even deeper look into her life and journey. She also appeared in Operation: Aunties, which premiered in 2025 on ALLBLK, further proving her versatility across platforms.
A Legacy Beyond Laughter
When asked how she wants to be remembered, Campbell’s answer was simple—but powerful.
“That there was more behind the loudness and the jokes.”
It’s a statement that perfectly captures who she is: an artist whose humor has always been layered with truth, vulnerability, and depth.
Don’t Miss the Moment
For fans in St. Louis, this is more than a comedy show—it’s a rare opportunity to witness a living legend in an intimate, unfiltered setting. The “DAYUM GINA Tour” promises laughter, reflection, and connection in a way only Tisha Campbell can deliver.
Tickets are available now for her performances at the Helium Comedy Club in St.Louis from May 1st through May 3rd.
One thing is certain: when Tisha Campbell steps on that stage, she’s not just performing—she’s sharing her story, her truth, and her evolution… and that’s something you don’t want to miss.
