The Rides N’ School Supplies Charity Car & Bike Show is set to return for its 8th year on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at O’Fallon Park YMCA, bringing with it a powerful blend of cars, culture, and community impact.
Powered by NASCAR and recognized as one of the region’s premier community-driven automotive events, RNSS8 is more than a showcase of custom cars and motorcycles—it’s a mission in motion.
From Inspiration to Impact
Behind the movement is Derrick Walker Jr., President and Co-Founder of Rides N’ School Supplies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting youth through education, mentorship, and access to essential resources.
What started as a vision in 2019 has grown into a force for change across St. Louis. Since its founding, RNSS has awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships, distributed thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies, and created meaningful opportunities for families throughout the region.
But for Walker, the mission was always deeper than numbers.
Reflecting on the moment that sparked it all, he shared, “I did some mentoring in a juvenile detention center since 2015, and I felt we were catching the
kids late. I wanted to catch them earlier—provide motivation and inspiration. I love cars and bikes, and that helped me bring resources together to do something for the kids.”
Seeing What Others Missed
Walker’s vision was rooted in recognizing untapped potential—both in the youth and the community around them.
“In the community there are doctors, entrepreneurs, business owners—resources that are already here,” he explained. “And I saw kids who just needed direction. This was a way to connect the two.”
That connection has become the heartbeat of RNSS: bridging inspiration with opportunity.
More Than Cars—A Cultural Movement
At first glance, RNSS may look like a celebration of automotive excellence—hundreds of custom and classic cars, motorcycles, and specialty vehicles filling the space. But beneath the chrome and paint lies something far more meaningful.
“A car is nice—you only get to drive it so much,” Walker said. “But it gives people a reason to dream. From reminiscing to seeing what you could have, it fills your soul. It brings people together.”
That sense of unity is what transforms RNSS from an event into an experience—one that resonates far beyond the day itself.

“I want them to feel loved as soon as they come in,” he said. “I want them to feel inspired, motivated—and feel a sense of unity and connection.”

Continuing the Mission
As RNSS8 approaches, the organization is actively seeking sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners ready to make a difference in the lives of local students. “Free haircuts will be available also, courtesy of some of St. Louis’ top barbers, giving back to the community.”
