Zoey Williams becomes First Black Female Pilot 800

Zoey Williams, a 27-year-old from Ontario, Canada, has recently etched her name in history as Air Canada’s first Black female pilot to fly a Boeing 777. This remarkable achievement comes as an accomplishment to her dedication, passion, and resilience in the aviation industry. With four college degrees under her belt, including three from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Zoey’s journey to the cockpit is a story of overcoming challenges, pursuing her dreams, and breaking barriers.  Growing up as the daughter of a pilot, Zoey’s childhood was marked by constant travels across the globe.

However, despite this exposure to the aviation world, she initially hesitated about a career in piloting due to the unpredictable schedules. Instead, she focused on the engineering side of aviation. It was only after a terrifying experience during a flight on a Cessna that she decided to confront her fear and pursue flight training.  By the age of 19, Zoey earned her wings as a certified flight instructor, setting the stage for a remarkable career in aviation. She navigated through various roles, including flying the challenging Beechcraft 1900, serving as a First Officer for Sky Regional Airlines, and later transitioning to Air Transat. The pandemic brought disruptions, but Zoey continued to pursue excellence, earning an MBA in Aviation from Embry-Riddle and flying a Boeing 737 for Flair Airlines.

Zoey’s journey culminated in a historic moment when she became the first Black female pilot to operate a Boeing 777 for Air Canada. This milestone not only showcases her expertise in the cockpit but also inspires aspiring pilots worldwide. Zoey’s achievements have not gone unnoticed, as she earned a spot among the Top 20 Under 40 by Wings Magazine and featured in videos by Air Canada and the Elevate Aviation 2023 Women of Inspire.  Beyond her aviation accomplishments, Zoey is a multi-talented individual. She actively shares her musical skills on various platforms and is set to make her mark as an author with her upcoming book, “Go Where You Belong,” aimed at inspiring young minds to pursue their passions.

In reflecting on her journey, Zoey emphasizes the importance of focus, building networks, and expressing passion in everything one does. Her story serves as encouragement for individuals facing challenges in pursuing their dreams. Zoey Williams has not only broken barriers in the aviation industry but is also shaping a path for future generations to soar to new heights.
