SHAWNEE, Kan. —
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to face the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship, one local business is preparing for a big rush.
That boost in business is all things to one popular Chiefs rookie.
“He just came in one day with his mom and his dad,” Server Teresa Smith told KMBC.
Smith works at Pegah’s in Kansas and has been a Chiefs fan for a long time.
So you can imagine how surprised she was to flop down a menu in front of number 10
“He was so nice, such a great person,” Smith said.
And so a friendship began between Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco and the staff at Pegah’s.
“And I was just tickled pink, and he’s just a sweetheart,” Smith said.
That was several months ago. Since then, Pacheco has made the restaurant a usual stop, even bringing in other Chiefs players as recently as last Saturday before the team’s playoff game with the Jaguars.
His frequent stops at the Shawnee cafe have people talking, and the owner also says his business is up more than 20% from Chiefs fans that have followed the rookie to the Johnson Drive location.
