It is now the time, to gas up the car, SUV, or Truck and roll on down the interstate. And to grandma’s house for the sweet apple pies or just to mom’s house for the sweet potato pie
Some might not want to go far away from home this season or maybe they can’t. Because for one, Covid-19 lingering in the midst and the threat of more mask options, staying in is the best idea.
While you are opting to stay home, I have come up with some great ways for you to entertain your guests. While the new-age generations are not always receptive to the traditional holiday’s meals.
No chitterlings
Turkey, chitterlings, and ham are the mainstays on a typical black American’s dinner table. During Thanksgiving or Christmas, there is always a store fight for the last of the chitterlings.
I am not going to tell you what the chitterlings are and what effect they will have on you. However, I will tell you, a lot of people are choosing healthier meals to feed their families these days.
I was lucky enough to run into Whole Foods and find just the right formula. Their 2023 Holiday menu book was the perfect tool to help you plan a feast. So, let’s get the party started.
Appetizers
For the thirsty, you can start with Korbel Brut California, and you may order a bottle online and in-store.
Starting with the Shrimp Platter, there is a small or larger platter and there are Large and jumbo shrimp to choose from.
Smoke Salmon Platter
Classic Antipasti Platter
Pate and Charcuterie Platter
Vegetable Crudites Dip
Hors d’Oeuvres
Crab Bites
Chicken Cordon Bleu Poppers
Lobster Arancini
Cocktail Meatballs
Main Course: A La Carte Entrees
Beef Wellington
Lamb Shank
Classic Lasagna
Chef Created Crab Cakes (Various by locations)
Honey Lemon Roasted Salmon
Prime Rib
And don’t forget that Whole Foods has a huge selection of Vegan Platters, so call ahead.
There is a suggestion for Criterion Cabernet Sauvignon Chalk Hill, for wine lovers.
Sides
Roasted Garlic Mashed Cauliflower
Lemon-herb asparagus with Pine Nuts
Candied Yams
Green Beans with Roasted Shallots
Truffled Parmesan Mashed Potatoes
Soup
Lobster Bisque
Corn & Shrimp Chowder
Aromatic Butternut Squash
So, don’t forget the salad, and if you have vegans coming over, make sure the soup is free of animals. And for dessert, there are so many choices that come to mind. As a result, people love banana pudding, pumpkin pie, and a fresh fruit platter with whipped cream.
There you have it and not once did I suggest eating chitterlings, ham, or turkey this time around. So, get to the market and be home for the holidays.
