
KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Quinton Lucas and the entire city council are being sworn into office this morning.
13 people in all are set to be sworn in this morning at 10 a.m.
There’s also a celebration after, with food trucks, games, and a DJ. Both events take place at Illus Davis Park on East 12th Street.
Lucas stopped by KMBC 9 on Tuesday ahead of the event to discuss one of the most pressing issues in the city right now, gun violence.

- Kevin O’Neill, Councilmember, 1st District at large
- Wes Rodgers, Councilmember, 2nd District
- Lindsay French, Councilmember, 2nd District at large
- Melissa Robinson, Councilmember, 3rd District
- Melissa Patterson Hazley, Councilmember, 3rd District at large
- Eric Bunch, Councilmember, 4th District
- Crispin Rea, Councilmember, 4th District at large
- Ryana Parks-Shaw, Mayor Pro Tem, 5th District
- Darrell Curls, Councilmember 5th District at large
- Johnathan Duncan, Councilmember 6th District
- Andrea Bough, Councilmember, 6th District at large
The mayor took time in his inauguration speech to announce several new initiatives to combat gun violence and address affordable housing during his second term.
“We know, that our humble city can be a model to a nation for how to succeed, how to support each other, and how to accelerate beyond our wildest dreams,” Lucas said.
