New details provided on Kansas City’s next entertainment district, located at Pershing and Pennway

Over 150 people will fit inside Barrel Hall and another 100 in the smoke stack.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

Kansas City is getting a new look at its next entertainment district.

Pennway Point will sit at the intersection of Pershing and Pennway.

It’s designed to have a family-friendly environment – and spans six acres of the former Carter-Waters industrial site.

It will include a 6,000-square-foot building named Barrel Hall.

Barrel Hall will include a tasting and taproom from Boulevard Brewery, Würstl, Chef J BBQ and the Bull Creek Distillery.

Over 150 people will fit inside Barrel Hall and another 100 in the smoke stack.

The development will also include a 30,000-square-foot Talegate , a Neon Alley, and a 150-foot observation wheel.

The goal is to give people a safe and central place downtown to enjoy all Kansas City has to offer.

The space will be built to adapt to the seasons and to make it enjoyable all year long.

It could open as soon as early 2024.

The proposed location of the Pennway Point development includes this parking lot and the former Carter Waters building shown along the West Pennway viaduct. (Kevin Collison | Flatland)
