The mother of St. Louis rapper and producer Metro Boomin died in an apparent murder-suicide. TMZ reports Leslie Joanne Wayne was killed by her husband Friday night near Atlanta. The suspect then reportedly took his own life.
No other details, including a cause of death, have been released. His family is asking for privacy.
Metro Boomin has been vocal on social media about thanking his mother for helping launch his career. She would drive him from St. Louis to Atlanta to develop his musical talents. He is now collaborating with Drake, Young Thug, Future, Kanye West, and many other artists.
People in St. Louis have been mourning Wayne. A post to Cardinal Ritter College Prep Family’s Facebook group says, “CRCP family, please wrap your arms around Leslie Joanne Wayne’s (Henderson) family ( class of 88), mother of Producer Metro Boomin.”
“This is just devastating. She was the sweetest. It’s heartbreaking. Praying for her family” states one commenter.
