Senator Karla May condemns recent racist outbursts at Washington University and calls for action to address systemic racism and discrimination.

(Jefferson City, MO) The following is a statement from State Senator Karla May (D – St. Louis):
“After learning of the disgusting and vile behavior directed at Black students at Washington University, St. Louis, I reached out to student advocates and campus officials to ensure steps are being taken to address these overt acts of racism.”
“Missouri’s diversity is its strength, and these sorts of attacks on young Black men and women at our colleges and universities will not be tolerated. I appreciate the student leaders with the Alpha Eta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity for bringing this incident to light. Only by calling out racism with clarity can we rip it from its roots so stronger seeds of unity can be sown.”
