Race in Politics: Auditor’s “Amber Alert” for Kim Gardner Skirts Line of Malicious Prosecution
Amber Alert issued for Kim Gardner as city officials demand answers for delay in release of audit report on St. Louis City Circuit Attorney’s Office.

St. Louis, Mo. (May 6, 2024) — In a shocking display of bureaucratic inertia, the Missouri Auditor’s Office is prolonging the release of an audit report on the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office. Despite months of anticipation, the report remains withheld, raising serious concerns about transparency and accountability within the state’s legal system.
The audit, which aimed to vilify the operations and financial management of the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, has been eagerly awaited by citizens and stakeholders alike. However, the inexplicable delay in its release has sparked frustration and suspicion; especially when the Auditor encourages an interviewee to show up and “take the Fifth.”
Of particular concern is the revelation that the delay is purportedly due to the Auditor’s Office waiting to serve a subpoena on the previous Circuit Attorney. This move reeks of procedural mismanagement and begs the question: why stall the release of crucial information over a procedural formality that offers no guarantee of cooperation? Instead the Auditor puts on his own BOLO (be on the lookout).
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that even if served with a subpoena, the previous Circuit Attorney is not obligated to answer any questions, rendering the delay entirely unnecessary and unjustifiable. This raises serious doubts about the Auditor’s Office’s commitment to transparency and its ability to conduct independent and timely audits.
The citizens of Missouri deserve better. They deserve a government that operates with integrity and accountability, not one that hides behind bureaucratic red tape to avoid fulfilling its obligations to the public. The delay in releasing the audit report only serves to erode trust in the Auditor’s Office.
We call on the Missouri Auditor to immediately release the audit report on the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office without further delay – Put Up or Shut UP – anything less would be a betrayal of the public trust and a disservice to the people of Missouri.
