During her speech, Mayor Jones outlined key initiatives aimed at economic empowerment:
- Workforce Development Hub Expansion: The Mayor explained how an initial $400,000 investment, bolstered by a $1,000,000 donation from Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, is transforming an old electrical site into a state-of-the-art workforce development center.
- Community-Driven NGA Project: Mayor Jones highlighted the unique, collaborative approach to the construction of the new NGA facility. She emphasized the city’s efforts to engage with surrounding neighborhoods and prioritize their input in the project’s development.
- Equitable Growth Initiatives: “If St. Louis is thriving, then everyone should benefit from that growth. That’s fundamental,” Mayor Jones declared. She discussed programs like the expanded senior property tax credit, designed to help longtime residents remain in their homes amidst changing neighborhoods.
The Mayor concluded her remarks with a call to action: “There’s a wave of opportunity coming to our city, and I want to make sure everyone has a chance to be a part of it.”
