In Kansas City, a ray of light and change shines brightly through the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization known as “BlaqOut.” Since its inception in 2017, BlaqOut has emerged as a trailblazing force in healthcare access and LGBTQ+ advocacy, particularly focusing on improving the lives of the Black LGBTQ+ community.

At its core, BlaqOut stands as a disruptive innovator, pioneering significant advancements in HIV testing and prevention, telehealth services, and the accessibility of PrEP/PEP medication. Moreover, this organization’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access and wellness outcomes for marginalized individuals has forged new pathways to superior care for its primary constituency—the Black, LGBTQ+ community of Kansas City.

BlaqOut has expanded its reach over the years and now extends its easily accessible, no-cost services to all those in need. These services include comprehensive STI screenings and treatment, lab screenings, health insurance navigation, and transportation support. By doing so, BlaqOut ensures that every individual in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area has access to the healthcare they deserve.  The vision of BlaqOut transcends the realm of healthcare alone; it envisions a world where all Black individuals of queer and trans experience live with dignity, free from the shackles of racial injustice and health inequity.

This noble vision is underpinned by a mission to create a connected, supported community that houses safe spaces and provides the necessary resources for Black LGBTQ+ individuals to thrive.

BlaqOut operates five distinct programs, each meticulously designed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by its community members. From combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic to improving overall health outcomes, these programs serve as pillars of strength for Kansas City’s Black LGBTQ+ community.

The approach taken by BlaqOut goes beyond the confines of healthcare; it dives into the societal inequities and injustices that disproportionately affect the local Black LGBTQ+ population. By tackling these systemic issues, BlaqOut aims to create lasting change that reverberates throughout the community.  In a world where disparities in healthcare access persist, BlaqOut stands as a symbol of resilience.. With their tireless dedication and innovative initiatives, BlaqOut continues to uplift and empower Kansas City’s Black LGBTQ+ community, health equity, and paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.Contact To Find out more info: https://blaqout.org
