(May 14, 2024, St. Louis, MO) – Today, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra announced details of a one-night-only special concert that intertwines the music of two visionary artists whose music spans more than 200 years: Classical Era composer Ludwig van Beethoven and 32-time Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé. Beethoven X Beyoncé is 7:00pm CDT, Sunday, June 23, at Stifel Theatre in downtown St. Louis. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at slso.org or by calling the Box Office at 314-534-1700.
Beethoven X Beyoncé is Steve Hackman’s newest symphonic synthesis of fifteen chart-topping songs by Beyoncé with Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, the symphonic repertoire’s most joyful celebration of dance. Beyoncé selections that are seamlessly interwoven into this musical journey include “Girls,” “Crazy in Love,” “Sorry,” “Halo,” “Cuff It,” “Single Ladies” and the 2024 hit “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Steve Hackman—composer, conductor, and creator of several orchestral fusion concerts—returns to lead the SLSO alongside a trio of vocalists and a guest drummer, guitarist/keyboardist, and bassist. Hackman made his SLSO debut in February 2024 for a performance of his orchestral fusion concert Brahms X Radiohead, called “brave and creative” (The Arts STL).
