With the November 8th Primary vastly approaching, I sat down for an in-depth interview with the President of the Board Candidate and current 15th Ward Alderwoman Megan Ellyia Green. Megan is no stranger to doing great things in the community. She spent over a decade in early childhood education,

In the midst of the tragedy of the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School shooting, I asked, how Megan felt about the horrific shooting and what can be done to combat violent crimes? “The shooting was absolutely horrific, I have a number of friends whose children attend that school. The more that we are learning about that situation, Red Flag laws could have prevented it from happening. One of the things I would love to see us implement is the program “Operation Peacemaker” this was a program that started in Richmond California where they went to people that were at risk of committing gun crimes. They helped with a monthly stipend, housing, education, and much more.”

When asked about mental illness, drug abuse, and fentanyl usage that causes people to break into cars,  Megan stated “We have to increase the capacity for treatment. We need to work on creating a safe injection zone. Which is a designated area that people can go to in a monitored safe environment,] so that we can connect them with resources.” I asked Megan Green why should the people vote for her. “Because I want to build a St. Louis that works for everyone. I want to start bringing investment and reinvestment into areas that have been neglected. We have to start strategically addressing the root causes of crime instead of continuing to just invest in the police who show up after a crime is committed. I’m devoted to standing on the side of the people and making sure we build a St. Louis that works for everyone.”
