The history and conception of the Mister HBCU Kings’ Leadership Conference and Competition started in 2004, with a conversation on the campus of Lincoln University of Missouri. The Leadership Conference and Competition were founded by Mrs. Benecia Spencer Williams, Lincoln University’s Vice President for Advancement at that time.
After laying the foundation, the first Mister HBCU Kings’ Leadership Conference and Competition was held on the campus of Lincoln University of Missouri in February 2005
Under the leadership of Williams, the organization grew tremendously as a number of institutions started participating. In 2015, Dr. Jerome Offord, Jr. assumed the lead role in organizing the event. In 2016, the Mister HBCU Kings’ Leadership Conference and Competition were incorporated under the laws of the State of Missouri and is a federally recognized 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization.
On January 28, 2023, The Mister HBCU Kings’ Leadership Conference and Competition will host their 19th annual event. At The Marriott St. Louis Airport, 10700 Pear Tree Lane. St. Louis Mo. 63134. Starting at 7 pm. Their mission is to support, honor, and strengthen the role of HBCU campus Kings.
These young men are in leadership roles on their campuses and investing in them, collectively, builds a community of men who support and cherish HBCUs. The honor of being crowned the King of all HBCUs is bestowed upon one young man at this event.
