What has been the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists (GSLABJ) since 1976 is now operating under a new name and logo: The local National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) chapter is now the NABJ-St. Louis or NABJ-STL. New branding elements will be in place in the next few weeks.
Upcoming NABJ-STL events and programs include the 47th annual Minority Student Journalism Workshop, to be held in October at Webster University, and the 2023 Living Legends event, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Monastero to recognize three journalism legends with their roots in St. Louis: Dr. Donald Suggs, publisher of the St. Louis American newspaper; Laurna Godwin, president and co-founder of the Vector Communications Corporation and former broadcast journalist; and Russ Mitchell, anchor and managing editor of WKYC in Cleveland and former anchor of the “CBS Evening News” weekend editions and “The Early Show” on Saturdays.
NABJ-St. Louis will hold a general body meeting for members on Saturday, Sept. 16, to discuss volunteer opportunities with these and other projects.
