December 14 will also be known as “Leland Metro Boomin Wayne Day” in St. Louis.
Metro Boomin has been recognized for his humanitarian efforts in the city of St. Louis, where he has been awarded the key to the city and has two days named in his honor. The producer has been running his “Single Moms Are Superheroes” campaign for seven years, which has now been renamed after his late mother.
On December 14, Metro Boomin Day and Leslie Joanne Single Mothers And Caregivers Appreciation Day will be celebrated in St. Louis. This year, Metro’s charity partnered with Amazon Access and Rung for Women to provide support to single mothers through career coaching and skills training.
St. Louis Mayor Jones praised Metro for his work as a producer and his advocacy for single mothers and domestic abuse victims. In a speech, Metro expressed his dedication to continuing to help the city and honored his mother’s legacy. In June, he paid tribute to his late mother on the first anniversary of her death. Her tragic death in 2022 at the hands of her husband, who later took his own life, motivated Metro to do more for single mothers and families in need.
A little about Metro Booming:
Born Leland Tyler Wayne in St. Louis, Metro Boomin’s birthday is September 16, 1993. He became one of the most in-demand producers on the contemporary hip-hop scene before he even reached 30 years old, and his Rolodex of frequent collaborators includes 21 Savage – with whom he made joint album ‘Savage Mode II’ – as well as Future, Young Thug, Offset, Drake, Travis Scott, Kanye West and The Weeknd.
He scored his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in 2018 with debut record ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes,’ which he followed up in 2022 with ‘Heroes & Villains,’ also a Billboard 200 chart-topper. Not sure which tracks he’s worked on? Listen out for his well-known producer tags, the most famous of which is probably, “If young Metro don’t trust you, I’m gon’ shoot you.”
Raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Wayne began his career in music production in 2009 at the age of 16; he relocated to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College in 2011 and continued to work extensively with Atlanta-based artists Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, and Migos.[4] Wayne gained mainstream success for producing the 2014 hit single “Tuesday” for iLoveMakonnen, which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, he produced the singles “Jumpman” by Drake and Future, “Low Life” by Future, and attained his first number one on the chart with “Bad and Boujee” by Migos. He followed up with credits on similarly successful singles, including “Congratulations” by Post Malone, “Tunnel Vision” by Kodak Black, “Mask Off” by Future, “Bank Account” by 21 Savage, and his second number one, “Heartless” by the Weeknd.
As a non-performing lead artist, Wayne has released the collaborative projects Savage Mode (2016) and Savage Mode II (2020) with 21 Savage, DropTopWop (2017) with Gucci Mane, Perfect Timing (2017) with Nav, and Double or Nothing (2017) with Big Sean.[7] Wayne’s debut studio album, Not All Heroes Wear Capes (2018) and its follow-up, Heroes & Villains (2022) both debuted atop the Billboard 200. The latter of which spawned the single “Creepin” (with the Weeknd and 21 Savage), which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top ten in several countries, remaining Wayne’s most successful release.
