Historically Black Colleges and Universities or HBCUs are constantly battling the challenges of financial difficulties, declining enrollment numbers, mediocre graduation and retention rates. But even in the midst of these adversities, HBCUs continue to crank out an overwhelming number of HBCU luminaries who, through their tireless work and incredible intelligence, are literally helping to change the world.
From the arenas of politics to entertainment to corporate America and well beyond, some of the most successful Black folks are — and have been for a long time — the proud products of HBCUs. And now while non-HBCU are experiencing historic lows in enrollment numbers due to the pandemic, HBCUs… on the opposite end of the spectrum, are experiencing historic highs.
