On April 17, 2022, public figure Orlando Watson passed away at the young age of 45. He was a prominent St. Louis Prime 55 restaurant owner, entertainment promoter, and music producer.
Moreover, the iconic St. Louis innovator was a phenomenal presence all throughout the St. Louis area. In retrospect, he has surely impacted the lives of every person that he came across.
Watson, was also the co-owner with prominent manager Tony Davis, of The Prime 55 restaurants in the east Delmar Loop neighborhood and downtown St. Louis. The highlights of his career was producing songs for the Grammy award-winning group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
During his time promoting, he had brought rising star at the time, Megan the Stallion to perform at the Pageant in St. Louis.
Orlando had a long bout with cancer, after being cancer-free from a 2006 lymphoma diagnosis, he founded the annual “I’m a Survivor ” cancer benefit event. Then, Watson had a second cancer diagnosis, where he had to have his leg amputated.
In 2021, he founded the AmpUTeez apparel line.
He was so passionate and energetic and focused that his passing shocked so many across the Greater St. Louis area. “I thought we had more time,” said longtime friend DJ Charlie Chan Soprano.
His life was filled with celebrities and plenty of success, yet it was his family and friends that meant everything to him. Watson, a great man; a husband, a father, a friend, and he will truly be missed.
