Community leader and founder of nonprofit Boys2Mentorrs Duane Tolen, is here to discuss his organization and fundraiser. The fundraiser is set for May 18th, and it is an opportunity to assist with travel for the youth.

Here is what he had to say:
Boys2Mentorrs has been operating officially since 2019. I was tired of seeing our community fall apart and wanted to do something about it. After researching, I decided to take preventative rather than reactionary measures to change the narrative. As a result, God has blessed us to not only help 70+ families, and have 2 after-school programs but to be recognized by Clayco Corporation for Juneteenth, Mike Brown Chosen For Change, Humanity In The Middle, The Unsung Hero award by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, The Shonda Rhimes Foundation and now, The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation Mentoring Camp in Atlanta.
This is a great opportunity for our boys to get away from home because some have never traveled beyond East St. Louis. I am a strong believer that exposure eradicates ignorance… The more we can expose them to, the better they are. So we must get this done for them. The foundation is taking care of food and lodging, leaving us responsible for transportation, which will be expensive, because we will be there from 6/12 – 6/16.
We’re not an organization with their hands out. We’re looking for support for a fundraiser we’re having. Another supporter/partner is The Coleman Hughes Project ft Adrianne Felton King! Big supporters of Boys2Mentorrs and one of the best (Top 3) bands that St Louis has to offer!
There you have it, and there is just a month to go. Please support this great fundraiser, you will be glad you did.
