Whether it’s Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Essence, or Vanity Fair fashion has been a passionate love affair for style and grace.  Born in Memphis TN but raised in Milwaukee WC Lawanda Thornton has always had a talent in fashion.  

You know some of us say we want the best better than the rest, but at the same time we tend to just let go of our promises and dreams that we’ve made to ourselves. Whether it was when we were talking to God through our prayers or had mentioned it to our closest relative or best friends about our hopes and dreams.  

Listen to the Spirit 

 After going through trails and tribulations, going a depression period in life and being locked down doing a short sentence for a mistake. Lawanda got grounded into Bible, prayer, and did some meditation exercises to help get back on track, and listen to the Holy spirit of about her next journey in life.  The next time that the Holy Spirit spoke to  her . She was on a vacation trip with her eldest son in Las Vegas for his birthday, and God spoke to her. Saying to her trust in me, have faith in me , and walk into her dream.  During that time they were soon introduced to woman  at a high fashion boutique off from the strip. 

Receiving a blessing 

 While enjoying visiting at the boutique and meeting the owner. The encouragement of becoming a fashion stylist began to manifest. Leading Lawanda into the steps of making her dreams and destiny become a reality.  Starting up shop inside her home and outside her of car.  After going through the experience of making purchases from wholesalers. Lavish A Luxe Boutique was now born, and Holy Spirit came to her yet again. Telling her to find a solid location, so that she could serve the people in larger platform.  But Lawanda didn’t have funds to support the idea of having a storefront. Yet again God reminded her to trust and believe in Him, and she stepped out on faith. Finding herself receiving her very first store on Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis Tennessee. 

Blossoming into the passion 

Five years into this business of beauty and glamour of the fashion industry. Lawanda now known as Ms. Lavish in the business or Lavish to friends and regular customers, is orchestrating plush fashion shows at the Memphis Cannon Center and various other venues located within the Bluff City of the Mid-South.  Within  all the success of the storefront on Elvis Presley Boulevard and the many different fashion show productions. Lavish will soon open up a second location in the Medical district of the city of Memphis called Lavish A Luxe Boutique II. Where her success continues to grow even more so, all because she put all her trust and belief God first, and effort, energy into herself secondary. 

The engagement with customers 

One thing that is mentioned and memorable when entering and exiting out. The stories are both always immaculate, welcomed with a friendly smile and greeting. Also before the closing of a purchase, the customers is always invited back and encouraged to take a Bible verse with them out of the candy bowl. That sets next the cash register. 

Corinthians 5:7

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Living by faith is exactly what Lawanda (Lavish) has been doing and trusting within. 

To God be onto the glory, for His mercy and grace is excellent and wonderfully done each day that sun rises and as it goes down.  Amen!
