WHY:

The Public Health Institute names drug overdose as the leading cause of unintentional death in the United States, with opioid addition being a significant factor in the epidemic. The Opioid Crisis continues to impact St. Louis, with more deaths occurring here than in any other county in the state. As reported by KDSK, deaths among Black men is higher than any other group, at a rate of 109 per 100,000 residents.

With this event we aim to raise awareness of this crisis, grieve the ones that have been lost to opioid use, and amplify the resources available to our community to help support those who have and continue to be affected by the opioid crisis. Participating vendors will provide resources to support those are impacted by opioid addiction.
