Community members are too often asked to be productive in society while simultaneously trying to thrive in environments depleted of support, resources, and information.
As part of a solution, Da Hood Connect (DHC) was developed to help Black and under-resourced communities thrive. By first addressing personal needs, then providing support for sustainability, DHC helps individuals improve productivity for themselves, their families, and then their communities. DHC’s goal is to address community members’ needs through education, connection, and the provision of safe, cultural spaces and opportunities.
By doing so, DHC hopes to make a positive impact by fostering the development of authentic relationships between community members and stakeholders. As an organization founded by a Black woman who not only lives in, but also takes an active role in the communities we serve, DHC understands the necessity of an engaged community and is fully devoted to the positive outcomes that come as a result. Da Hood Connect is here to spark community connections so we can make a positive impact!
OUR MISSION
Da Hood Connect works to address and reduce barriers that Black and/or under-resourced communities encounter through education, advocacy, and connections. We utilize media and entertainment such as a community podcast to engage and uplift the community we serve.
OUR VISION
We envision a world where racism and bias no longer impact what resources are provided to Black and/or purposely underserved communities and these communities have full access to what they need to thrive.
Our Core Values
Authenticity- We will not deny ourselves or the community we serve the space to show up as our true self. We genuinely want our team and community to feel unapologetic about being who they are, addressing their concerns and getting their needs met.
Collaborative- We believe in order to make an impact and be supportive to the community, it will take the collective effort of ALL community stakeholders. We will be intentional about developing equitable partnerships and work in alliance with those who align with our mission for the betterment and benefit of the overall community.
Vulnerable- We aim to create a safe environment providing fellowship where everyone feels connected, valued and respected. We encourage healthy, defined, vulnerable, and caring relationships to help build back our communities’ strong villages.
Innovative- We are conscious of those methods and systems that don’t work in favor of our community and we will be intentional about being creative in thinking of and developing new ideas, producing new methods and advancing new systems to impact positive sustainable change within our community.
Integrity- We are committed to being a transparent, dependable, dedicated, and trusted source to our community. We will deliver on our promises to the best of our abilities and expect to be held accountable to each other and the community we serve.
