Headquartered in St. Louis, MO, Jacob’s Ladder Ministries, led by the dynamic husband-and-wife team of Alfred and Kacie Long, is dedicated to providing faith-based services to individuals and families affected by incarceration.
Alfred Long’s personal journey is a holy testament to the transformative power of faith and compassion. Growing up on the south side of Chicago, he faced personal struggles with addiction to heroin and alcohol. His life took a pivotal turn when a group of individuals, instead of resorting to legal action, chose to pray for him when he was caught stealing frozen meat from a store.
This experience planted the seeds for his commitment to helping others, particularly those who had faced similar challenges. Jacob’s Ladder Ministries operates through various avenues, including in-person classes, workshops conducted inside Missouri prisons, Christian 12-step programs, mentoring initiatives, and sewing programs.

One of the notable initiatives of Jacob’s Ladder Ministries is the “Break the Cycle Scholarship Award,” a collaboration with The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce.
