If traveling with the ministry of God was a person, then Katina Lane-Fomby will be the top nominee. You can find her traveling to the shores of Italy to the board room of corporate America.
Katina Lane-Fomby is a dynamic individual who wears many hats: a devoted wife, a singer in her church choir, a successful businesswoman, an avid traveler, and a passionate shopping enthusiast. With a remarkable career that includes significant roles at prominent companies, Katina spent nearly 12 years at 3M before transitioning to her current position at Anderson Corporation in Minnesota.
Her love for travel has taken her to breathtaking destinations such as the Caribbean, Amsterdam, Paris, and Spain. Yet, her heart belongs to Florence, Italy, where she has made annual trips since 2016, until the pandemic put a pause on her globetrotting adventures. The culture, cuisine, and warmth of the people make her feel like a celebrity, and indulging her love for Gucci while in Italy only enhances that feeling.
When she’s not jet-setting around the world, Katina leads a health-conscious lifestyle. A vegetarian for twenty-five years, she prioritizes fitness, which contributes to her overall well-being. Remarkably, she is a breast cancer survivor, having overcome the disease five years ago—a fact that may surprise many.
Transitioning from 3M to Andersen Corporation
“Leaving 3M after almost 12 years was a bittersweet experience for me. I cherished my time there, as it was a company that supported my growth. However, I felt called to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the unknown. Trusting in God’s plan, I viewed my move to Andersen not just as a job change, but as a mental and financial promotion.”
Commitment to Community and Diversity at Andersen
“Absolutely! Andersen Corporation is dedicated to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. They’ve hosted events like ‘Motown’ featuring the Sounds of Blackness, and they’re organizing a ‘People of Color’ career fair. The company actively works to address workplace inequities and has invested in various organizations focused on social justice. Our leadership regularly reviews demographic data to identify gaps related to ethnicity and gender, collaborating with Human Resources to develop effective strategies.”
Traveling Adventures
“I have a deep passion for travel, and Florence, Italy, holds a special place in my heart. The culture, food, and genuine kindness of the people are unparalleled. In Florence, Americans are treated like superstars! I’m also a collector of fine Italian goods like Gucci. Traveling has opened my eyes to the world and made me grateful for my blessings, reminding me of those less fortunate.”
Worship and Community at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church
“I’m blessed to attend Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where Dr. Steve Daniels, Jr. serves as the Senior Pastor. He is a true servant leader with a passion for winning souls. For me, worship is a personal time with God, expressing my gratitude for all that I am and have. I sing in the choir and serve on the church’s special events committee. Additionally, I founded a non-profit called ‘Tina’s Loving Treasures,’ which aims to spread God’s love by providing spiritual and tangible support to those in need within our community.”
Commitment to Cancer Awareness and Advocacy
“I’ve been committed to raising cancer awareness long before my own diagnosis. Since 2011, I’ve participated in walks to support those affected by breast cancer, including friends and family. When I was diagnosed with stage 2 infiltrating ductal carcinoma in 2014, I refused to let cancer defeat me. Now, I serve as a motivational speaker and advocate for those battling this disease, determined to continue until a cure for all cancers is found.”
