The Better Family Life KWANZAA Holiday Expo 2023 promises a great celebration of the fourth principle of KWANZAA—Come Celebrate! Embodying the spirit of Ujamaa, or Cooperative Economics, this annual event invites the community to engage in a weekend of festivities, shopping, and cultural enrichment. Taking place over two days, from Saturday, December 9th, starting at 10 am to 7 pm, and continuing on Sunday, December 10th, from 12 pm to 6 pm, the expo is set to be a highlight for families seeking fun and cultural immersion.
Ujamaa, the principle of Cooperative Economics, takes center stage at the expo, offering a platform for individuals and businesses to promote and sell their products and services. Local vendors will showcase a diverse array of hand-crafted items, artwork, apparel, jewelry, home goods, body care essentials, and more. The event has become a staple for those seeking unique, high-quality products while supporting the local economy. The festivities extend beyond the shopping experience, with the stage coming alive with dynamic performances. Dancers, singers, poets, and live demonstrations by vendors promise to captivate the audience and create a lively atmosphere.
The expo is not just a marketplace; it’s a cultural celebration that brings the community together. Adding another layer of value, the Better Family Life organization, a community development 501(c)(3) corporation, is offering a first-time homebuyers and credit class on Saturday. This opportunity aligns with the organization’s broader mission of building strong families and vibrant communities by providing hope, comprehensive services, and meaningful opportunities. Â
The event is a unique opportunity to shop and network with a wide variety of Black-owned businesses, most of which are based in St. Louis. From jewelry to artwork, food, real estate, and more, attendees can explore and support local entrepreneurs. Film screenings, panel discussions, and other engaging activities contribute to the goal of fostering community connection and encouraging support for local businesses. Don’t miss out on this enriching experience that combines commerce, culture, and community building.
