Urban Harvest STL believes in food rights – all members of our community should have equitable access to fresh, healthy food regardless of socioeconomic status, race or location. We grow healthy produce across a network of urban farms in the heart of St. Louis and donate the majority of the harvest to nonprofit partners serving communities with limited or non-existent access to healthy, nutritious food. Urban Harvest STL also educates and engages the surrounding community in these efforts.
The flood planes that now are St. Louis have been an agricultural hub for thousands of years but with the toxic production and waste in the area, largely during the early 1900s, our land has been scarred. However, the potential for growth and new life abounds! and Urban Harvest is committed to making the pursuit of healthy, accessible, and just food sources possible. Their focus is on supporting the work that has already been taking place in St Louis for decades and decades by individual community members throughout St Louis. The vision for St Louis’ future is green, and lush with fruit trees and community growing spaces. Urban Harvest is excited to continue supporting this momentum.
2022 ANNUAL IMPACT REPORT
But before we fully jump into the 2023 growing season, we want to take a moment to reflect on all of the great things that happened in 2022. Last year we grew almost 3000 lbs of organic produce across our 4 farm sites! We distributed over 90% of our produce to our non-profit partners. This translates to over 2900 healthy meals distributed to our local community.
On the education front, we were able to serve 122 students at our Flance School Garden. We also hosted 20 apprentices through our Farm for Community Apprenticeship program and our apprentices combined for over 720 hours on the farm! To learn more about our impact in 2022 you can view the full report here (or see below).
Thank you to everyone in our community that shows support for our mission. We could not do this work without you!
