Golf carts, golf balls and African-Americans decked out for the putting scene. This is not your typical golf session that you would usually see while jogging or picnicking in the famous Forest Park.

However, it was a day of great causes and what a remarkable cool fall morning is had become.

At the last second, I had the opportunity to pop out to the glorious Forest Park Golf Club a.k.a. Norman K. Probstein Golf venue, in Forest Park. To check out the other sponsors, vendors, and to meet up with Dwight Johnson, and the other members of Epsilon Lambda Chapter.

Just recently, The Argus did a feature: Get ready to swing into action at the highly anticipated ELCF Golf Tournament 2023, organized by the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Epsilon Lambda Chapter, in collaboration with the Epsilon Lambda Charitable Foundation. Mark your calendars for September 16, 2023, and head over to the picturesque Forest Park Golf Course, located at 6141 Lagoon Dr, St. Louis, MO 63112, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for a day of camaraderie, competition, and philanthropy.

Now, I am here to get the scoop on the progress of the tournament and speak with the representatives. I spoke with Brother Brent Harvey, and he told me about the Epsilon Lambda Charitable Foundation, and all that they do for the local chapter’s community.

Last, after the tournament, an award reception ceremony will follow with a luncheon. This is the image below of Dwight Johnson, and the other members getting the trophies ready, as the players all arrived in for the reception.

Moreover, Epsilon is an advocate for the underserved, and like all fraternities and sororities worldwide, they all have mainly have the same initiatives with their own non-profits. And what Brother Harvey expressed the most, was the uplifting of the youth.

Epsilon Lambda Charitable Foundation and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, Epsilon Lambda Chapter. The mission of the Epsilon Lambda Charitable Foundation is to promote and uplift the education of youth and the advancement of communities. This is achieved through it involvement in various activities and initiatives. To learn more about the local chapter of Epsilon Lambda, visit them at 3615 19th Street, St. Louis, MO 63107.

Impressively, what I like most about this event, is the fact that you have all these black golfers coming together to fight for the community. In addition, it was nice to see the hardworking vendors and sponsors, all in tow, selling, and volunteering their efforts and time.

And we even had The XFL St. Louis Battlehawks, a sponsor, on hand gearing up for yet another exciting spring season. Their reps were available to pass out shirts, and sign up fans’ emails, to stay in the loop of 2024.
