Lighted Path International Church leads an international mission for reconciliation to combat cultural and ethnic dissension and promote unity.

When you walk into the assembly where Dr. Bori E. Oginni is delivering a sermon message, a beacon light probably lit the way for getting you there. Hence the name of his church, Lighted Path Christian Church International.
“The name of our church is coming from Word of God,” says Oginni. “Psalm 119:105 says, ‘Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.’ “
Born in the West African nation of Nigeria, Oginni is the bishop and founder of Lighted Path. He brings a multiracial and multinational theme to the ministry, where peoples can come together in joint fellowship and worship to God.
He draws the vision to attract diverse people to Lighted Path from Revelation 7:9, that says, in part: “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language” – a description of what heaven will look like.
“God’s heart is to have a church where people of all races and colors can fellowship and worship God freely because of the powerful Word of God that unites us together,” Oginni says. “Lighted Path Christian Church International has been established in our generation to bring true reconciliation to mankind from the present cultural and ethnic dissension and to inspire preparation in a people who accept the true Kingdom message of the Messianic King, Jesus the Lord.”
Oginni path began decades ago when he accepted and confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in October of 1984. He was filled with the Holy Spirit on December 25th of the same year. God called him to preach the gospel four months later. He was called to Pastor in 1993 and was commissioned by God to start pastoring in April of 1999 after a body of Elders “laid hands” on him and sent him out from the church that he was previously attending.
He served on the Board of Directors of Abundant Life Fellowship Church in St. Louis under the leadership of Bishop Matthew Ferguson for more than 11 years. He was in charge of Street Evangelism, Intercessory Prayer and Unmarried Fellowship for about 13 years at Abundant Life.
Oginni knows the work of the ministry is just that – work, along with dedication, being available when called upon and spending countless hours carrying out unseen and exhaustive duties that are vital to the church and ministry growth. His time at Abundant Life was his period of training for the mission field God called him to as the leader of Lighted Path Christian Church.
“Through the help of our very own Bishop Matthew Ferguson, I was taught how to hear from God clearly and be obedient to God’s Word at all times under any circumstances,” he says. “I learned how to speak the truth in love. I grew tremendously in my prayer life.”
His pastoral leadership also includes a unique mix of educational degrees. He obtained an associate degree in Radiology Technology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Art in Business Administration and a doctorate degree in Biblical Studies.
“Being a pastor is more than just preaching,” he says, adding that his secular education has helped him in managing the business side of the church.
That business includes the purchase of the building that formerly housed Children’s Palace near I-270 and New Halls Ferry Road in North St. Louis County, which the church owns debt free and is in the process of renovating it – cash only, Oginni says. Lighted Path Christian Church International services are temporarily being held at the St. Louis Airport Marriott Hotel.
He is the husband of Morenike Oginni, and they have four beautiful children, Oluwaranti, Morayo, Oreofe and Nehemiah IbaOluwa.
