Discover the remarkable stories of these everyday women during Women’s History Month and join the movement for positive change.
There are so many extraordinary women in the world, doing a lot to help those in their community and at the helm of their professions. It would take me forever to list the everyday woman who is making a difference in the lives of others. In addition to listing those women for Women’s History Month, I thought it would be great just to motivate others to follow their dreams.
Furtherly, in the world of Media, you hear about Oprah, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and even Alicia Keyes all doing something to help make life great. But little is known about these women who also need to be on that same totem pole of greater. So, here they are, my picks of some remarkable women you should know.
Countless remarkable women around the world are making a positive impact in their communities and excelling in their professions. It would be impossible to name them all, as every day, more women are making a difference in the lives of others. In honor of Women’s History Month, I want to not only recognize these women but also inspire others to pursue their dreams.
While we often hear about well-known women in the media such as Oprah, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Alicia Keys using their platforms to improve the lives of others, countless lesser-known women are equally deserving of praise. So, without further ado, here are some of the remarkable women who should be celebrated and recognized for their incredible contributions.

- Shelter Force:
- In celebration of Women’s History Month, Shelterforce and Community Change is once again presenting Women of Color on the Front Lines, a video series that amplifies the voices of women who are transforming their communities.
- This year we’re highlighting the work of Kea Mathis, a community organizer with Detroit People’s Platform. Mathis organizes alongside tenants—mostly Black, women-led households—to create and support affordable, quality housing. “Detroit is a majority Black city, but the rules, the policies are white, conservative. It is very hard . . . as a woman here and then as a Black woman here, to be the one to try to ask the question first or stand up first,” she says.
- Mathis has also engaged with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development around landlord accountability, and she’s worked toward ending the criminalization of unhoused people.
